Whose hair band is this?It could be Mei’s hair band. Or it might belong to Linda. They both have long hair.
What did you see that night?I’m not sure, but it can’t be a dog. It was bigger. I think it might be a bear or a wolf.
must > can > could > may > might

情态动词表示推测时，无时态区别，只有语气差别。表示推测的情态动词的语气由强到弱的顺序如下：must > can > could > may > might。

含有must（表推测时）的句子变为否定句时，要用can’t。

  • The light in his room is on. He must be at home.
  • It can get very cold in Harbin in winter.
  • She could be late for the meeting—she missed the early bus.
  • The meeting may be postponed—no one has confirmed the time yet.
  • It might rain this afternoon, but the sky is still clear now.
